Eager to capture their quarry, but following Hussin’s orders not to spook her, Ayoub slowly pulled the Ford out of the trees. Starting down Highway 9 behind her, Ayoub glanced at his fellow jihadist, Yousef riding beside him. He was gripping his AK-47 with both hands and loudly praying to Allah. Both jihadists were intently watching the gray car and neither man noticed the silver YUKON turn onto the road behind them.

Pretty sure she was being set up for an ambush, Teresa stopped fifteen yards from the man lying in the road. Then, slipping the strap of her bag onto her left shoulder, she stepped out of the car and stood behind the door. “What’s wrong?” she called out to the man, with her right hand near the pocket holding her pistol.

“Help me … help me,” the man pleaded. “A snake bit me in the woods. I’m dizzy and hurting. Please help me.”

“I’ll call for help,” she called back, placing her hand into the gun pocket as if reaching for a cell phone and stepping around the door. “What is your name?” she asked, firmly gripping the pistol and slowly advancing toward him.

“Th–thank you,” Hussin muttered, struggling to hold his head up. “My name is Car–los Me-do—Ooooh, ” Hussin groaned, dramatically dropping his head as if he’d passed out.

“Oh, you poor thing. Help is on the way,” Teresa said. Now sure he was faking, she edged closer with her finger next to the pistol’s trigger.

Hussin watched through slitted eyes, thinking as the kafir slowly approach, Keep coming, just a few more steps, and Allah willing, I will have you.

Closer –closer –closer, he willed her forward until she was ten feet away.

“Now I have you. Allahu Akbar! ” Hussin screamed, expecting her to cower in fear as he jumped up and started to raise the large stainless steel revolver he had hidden under his body. But that’s when his plan fell apart. For instead of cowering, the woman rapidly drew a black pistol and fired three very fast shots—all striking him center mass, the middle of his chest.

“Now who’s got whom? ” Teresa hissed, and alerted by the sound of a vehicle roaring up behind her, kicked Hussin’s gun away and dashed around the rear of his car. Not knowing who was coming, she hoped it was her backup and took a quick look before ducking down behind the car. Nope not the Deltas, but they’re on the way, she grimaced, having seen the Black Ford speeding toward her with the SUV in hot pursuit.
